I led it several times many years ago. Once under snowy conditions with members of my club, Wessex Mountaineering, it felt really Alpine. Practically at the top we were hailed by some stranded walkers down in the Amphitheatre so we completed the climb with a rescue.<br /> The climb was also the scene of an old tragedy when two novices were led up it by an expert, Gilveen who having topped out left them in the dark to find their way back to the road. They lost their way and fell into the lake and soaking wet died of exposure.
